Carl M\u00fcllerhartung<\/b>, actually: M\u00fcller-Hartung<\/i> (* May 19, 1834 in Stadtsulza; \u2020 June 11, 1908 in Berlin-Charlottenburg) was a Thuringian cantor, music teacher and composer.<\/p>\n

Carl M\u00fcllerhartung was the son of the Sulza cantor Johann Christian M\u00fcller and his wife, a Hartung by birth. In Eisenach he was taught by Friedrich K\u00fchmstedt. He then held positions as music director at a theater in Dresden and as city and court cantor in Eisenach. He was appointed professor in 1863.<\/p>\n

Franz Liszt helped him to be appointed music director in Weimar in 1865, where he became an important figure in the city’s musical life. From 1869 he was also Kapellmeister at the court theater. The Weimar Orchestra School<\/i>, founded by M\u00fcllerhartung in 1872, was the forerunner of today’s University of MusicFRANZ<\/small> LISZT<\/small> Weimar. This took place in the former Franciscan monastery.<\/p>\n

M\u00fcllerhartung wrote secular and sacred choral works, songs, orchestral pieces and three choral sonatas for organ. His best-known work is the song “Th\u00fcringen, holdes Land<\/a>” with lyrics by Ernst Viktor Schellenberg. (wikipedia)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
