Brine spa Bad Sulza

Louise” graduation tower
“Louise” is the only remaining of the three former graduation towers in Bad Sulza, whose original task was to increase the salt concentration of the brine through evaporation processes in order to save fuel for the boiling process as part of salt extraction. As a result, a small amount of salt particles are carried away by the air (graduation loss), which forms the basis for medical applications.
Today, brine from the “Johann Agricola Spring” (drilled in 1984 on the site of today’s Toskana Therme) is used for the “Louise” graduation house with its walkway and atomizer hall and is used for therapeutic purposes.

December to March: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday 10am-12pm and 1pm-4pm

Saltworks and local history museum
The long and eventful history of Bad Sulza and its salt boiling tradition can be explored in the museum. The highlight is the original Covent Hall of the salt directorate from the 18th/19th century.
You can add interesting aspects to your excursion into the history of Bad Sulza with a visit to the technology museum next door. The Museum of Technology takes you back to times long past. Here you will find top models of consumer electronics, e.g. gramophones, televisions, equipment of the National People’s Army, two-wheelers of the GDR and much more.

Enjoying art in Bad Sulza
The former living, working and working place of the two Bad Sulza painters Georg Judersleben and Karl Holfeld shows works by both artists from their different creative phases.
NEW from 15.06.2025 Kunstsalon Philine Görnandt
Artist Philine Görnandt fills the venerable building with new life. In her gallery you can admire art made of paper and experience how material, light and the aura of the place create a composition in constantly changing shades. The Kunstsalon will be a lively place for encounters and sensory pleasures, where the tension between old and new, past and present, manifest and transparent creates an experience of mutual cross-fading and kaleidoscopic viewing.

Welcome to the swimming season
Bad Sulza’s outdoor pool is located in the immediate vicinity of the “Louise” graduation house – directly on the Ilmtal cycle path.
Whether you want to do a sporty, dynamic swim or simply spend a leisurely afternoon with your children in Bad Sulza’s outdoor pool, there is something for everyone. A wide slide, water spouts, underwater massage jets and air bubble plates provide additional variety.
The huge outdoor area has a beach volleyball court, table tennis tables and, of course, play equipment and a sandpit for the little ones.
The outdoor pool season starts on 15 May. If you have any questions about swimming courses, please call the outdoor pool team.

Yoga course in the Bad Sulza spa gardens
From May to September, there are various yoga classes to experience in the spa gardens, surrounded by old trees and the relaxing sound of the river.
You can choose between an open-air Hatha yoga class and a Yin yoga class. Hatha yoga strengthens the muscles and is a powerful form of yoga combined with breathing techniques and relaxation. Yin yoga is a passive yoga style and can also be described as fascia yoga, as the focus here is on stretching and activating the connective tissue, combined with intensive body awareness and relaxation.

in our historic oil mill with the restaurants “Mühlenschänke” and “Mehlkammer”, beer garden, barbecue hut, the country hotel with farm store and wine cellar, vacation apartments, a unique “floating hut village” and a camper van site.
